In The Garden....

Lets' face it folks, It is HOT outside.  Apparently the entire country is in the midst of a heat wave.  Around here the humidity will almost kill you.   These days working in the garden amounts to turning on the hose, watering those wilted plants, then hurrying back in the house to the air conidtioning.  So what better way to enjoy your garden then adding some art.  Here are some beat the heat deals and ideas.

In My Home...

Here are some great finds I have in and around my own home...

Bought at Canton Trade Days for $2.00.  This was originally gold, so I spray painted it.

This old chair was free and the basket was free (given to me by my mom).  The rocks were free too!

A little collection of Garden boxes (from my etsy shop), on top of a vintage WW11 era, USMC medical kit that I got for $8,  and a chipped paint armillary that I got on clearance at walmart in the garden department stacked in our non-working fireplace.

A set of 5 vintage medicine bottles that I got on Ebay for about $1 each filled with clippings from my garden sits in my kitchen window sill.

A vintage enamel ware teapot that I purchased for $12 and two old books from a garage sale that were $.50 each.

Etsy and Ebay

My first and foremost favorite website is Etsy.  This fabulous site is where shabby meets chic.  If you've never browsed the millions of handmade and vintage items from all over the world you're missing out.  There is shop after shop of handmade gold.  I myself have a shop on etsy (http://www.jordanjames.etsy.com/). 
Many of my future favorite picks and ideas that I showcase will be from etsy.  

My second favorite website would have to be Ebay.  There is more junk on ebay than ever.  It's like the ultimate garage sale.  You just have to know what to search for.   For example, one of my "saved searches" is Parts and Salvaged pieces.

The Cheapest House on the Block

This is my very first post, and I'd like to begin by telling you a little bit about what inspires me.  First thing you should know about me is I'm CHEAP!  The politically correct term is "frugal."  And with this economy it's chic to be cheap.  Second thing you should know is I LOVE junk.  These two things go hand in hand in decorating my home inside and out.  I make or repurpose many things.  So, this blog is going to be a dedicated mix of ideas, finds, and collections for your home and garden.
